Don’t miss AIDS Alabama’s third annual Dining Out For Life® Birmingham! On April 26th, you can contribute to the local fight against HIV/AIDS by simply dining out
at a participating restaurant. At least 25% of your bill will be donated to AIDS Alabama. All funds raised in Birmingham enable us to continue providing critical services to HIV-positive Alabamians and their families.

UWYLS created Cooking for a Cause to focus on the issue of childhood obesity and to raise awareness and funding for Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities, a health initiative of United Way of Central Alabama. Cooking for a Cause is an invitation for our community to come see how delicious, practical and wonderful healthy food can be.

Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities is a collaborative effort to fight childhood obesity in Jefferson County. By changing policies and creating healthier environments, we are working with a host of partners to improve nutrition and physical activity for children and their families. Jefferson County is one of 50 communities around the country that was awarded funding to advance this important effort and the funding from Cooking for a Cause will help enhance this important work.
Registration:
1. Cooking Demonstration + General Admission (Shift 1: arrive at 5:30pm) – $75.00 (USD) Reserved seat in a private cooking demonstration with Chris Vizzina. Includes heavy tastings of each dish, wine pairing, Q&A session with the chef, and recipe to take home, plus General Admission.

2. General Admission – $25.00 (USD) Entry to the event and silent auction, live music, wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, drink tickets.

4. If you are “bumped”, you’ll move your number
to your next favorites until all the numbers
are matched with your winning art!

The Purse & Passion Luncheon is the YWCA’s single largest fundraiser, having raised more than $5 million since 2000. These generous funds are raised from corporate and foundation sponsors, as well as contributions from guests the day of the luncheon.

Over 60 companies supported the event with major support coming from Belk Inc., Harbert Management Corporation, Alabama Power Company, Protective Life Corporation and The Birmingham News.

For over a century, the YWCA Central Alabama has been responding to the needs of women and families. The YW’s programs serve women and families by providing: affordable child care for low-income families; child care and afterschool enrichment programs for homeless children; affordable housing for families and seniors and a full array of domestic violence services.

Help us as we walk, roll or stroll to put hope within reach for children and adults with disabilities in the Birmingham area. Enjoy children’s activities, refreshments and more! It’s easy and it’s fun so lace up those walking shoes and join us for a great morning!

Lace up your big old floppy clown….oh, running shoes, put on your red nose, and meet us at Soho Square for the 8th Annual Red Nose Run, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House. Kids will enjoy the One Mile Fun Run with real Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clowns and Ronald McDonald on hand, while others can run or walk the 5K and 10 mile courses. All proceeds of the event (after expenses) benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.
